Plot outline

Odd, rhyming classifieds in the TIMES, unease three London gangsters - right so, as one of them is dead very soon. Also a dubious lawyer is killed by the mysterious murderer. Higgins and Lane soon find out, that the key to the crimes lies within the unsolved diamond robbery of jeweller Boldon. It looks as if the burglary participants are arguing over the prey. Finally we find out, that in reality the "robbery" was an insurance fraud, masterminded by Bolden himself, but one of his employees however, was killed during the heist. Shortly before the last surviving man is put to death, Higgins and Lane can arrest the "invisible" murderer.
